Javelin Engine

  • Lottery and Keno

At the heart of Typhoon sits Javelin, a transaction-processing engine. Javelin records transactions to a pair of transaction files; given sufficient disk storage these files are maintained perpetually, making it possible to examine any transaction that has been processed by Typhoon since its inception.

Typhoon handles cash and account-based wagering for parimutuel, fixed odds, lottery and keno. It can show progressive dividends for any bet type, including exotic and multi-dimensional pools. For example, with lottery style pools, punters can see what the dividend prize will be if their bet is successful.

Other tote systems have been custom-built for racing and are limited to between 16 and 24 runners. Because of its unlimited contestant capability Typhoon enables pari-mutuel wagering for sports and events. For example, an operator can offer trifectas on the Tour de France or the US Open Golf, pari-mutuel pools on NASCAR, or exotic bets for Formula One, World Cup Soccer, etc.

Typhoon caters to more than just events where the contestant numbers start from one and are sequential. Rather than forcing each contestant in an event to have an arbitrary tote number, it enables the operator to conduct a pool and accept wagers based on the contestant's shirt number, car number or their name.

Typhoon can store any number of different currencies in a single player account. It can also collate wagers in different currencies on the same pool and automatically normalise them to produce a unified pool using a nominated base currency. Cross betting and commingling use the same mechanism.  Such functionality is the foundation of a genuinely global wagering network, which has until now been unattainable.
