Mr. Nicholas Plowman – Chief Executive Officer
Nicholas was a founding investor in Typhoon and became CEO in January 2003. Prior to his involvement with the company Nicholas was based in Hong Kong, during which time he worked for the US sports network ESPN, the World Sports Group, and Frontiers Capital.
Mr. David Newall – Chief Technology Officer
David completed his Master of Science (Systems Integration) in 1994 at the University of Edinburgh, and subsequently qualified as a PRINCE 2 practitioner in 2000. His 12 years of experience in the IT industry has focussed on Customer Relationship Management and Wagering systems, over various industry vertical markets. While working with At The Races in the UK, David was responsible for the development and delivery of all aspects of the group’s wagering system including the multi-channel front end (web, idtv and mobile), the betting engine, and the downstream integration into fixed odds bookmakers and pari-mutuel tote systems.
Mr. Arnold Kopff – Chief Technical Architect
Arnold started with Universal Totalisators in 1972, and was a member of the group at AWA that developed the world’s first sell-pay totalisator in 1976. Arnold has also worked for RT Real Time Systems (later acquired General Instrument /Amtote). RT Real Time developed on and off-track tote systems for the TABs in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, and pilot lottery systems for Tattersalls in Victoria and Lotto Management Services in New South Wales. Arnold has developed 35 totalisator systems and two lottery systems. Between 1998 and early 2005, Arnold was the principal technical consultant and one of the architects of the nation-wide totalisator system developed by the Korea Racing Association. This system is arguably the world’s largest and most sophisticated pari-mutuel totalisator system.
Mr. Greg Kopff – Senior System Architect
Greg is the principal co-inventor of Typhoon and the company's senior system architect. He is also head of the R&D group at Typhoon Gaming. Greg is a professional software engineer and he graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with First Class Honours in 2004. He finished first in the Order of Merit. Greg has been designing and building complex transaction processing systems since 1998; most of these systems have been for wagering and gaming and all have required ultra-high performance and very high fault tolerance. Many of the innovative system architectural features, and the advanced application facilities in Typhoon were invented by Greg.
Mr. Emil Koutanov – Principal Software Engineer
Emil's background includes 12 years of software development, of which 7 years was comprised of engineering experience, specialising in high speed transaction processing, clustering and signal processing.
Emil's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (in Software Engineering) and Diploma of Engineering Practice, with First Class Honours and the University Medal. Emil's input and expertise have been pivotal in developing many of the innovative features behind the Typhoon wagering platform and other products of Typhoon Gaming. Emil is also a co-founder and advisor to a number of other Australian companies specialising in high performance and high availability computing, as well as financial markets.
Mr Brian Taouil – Project Manager
Brian has been with Typhoon as a Project Manager since 2010. He previously held roles at Datacom within the Microsoft Technical Support department, Metcash, within the Retail Technology division, and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in the Wealth Management unit undertaking projects based around large-scale infrastructure movements. Brian holds a Bachelor of Business (E-Business), Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and a Masters of Business (Operations Management)
Ms Zoe Rankin – Finance and Operations Manager
Zoe joined Typhoon in 2010 from the Sydney accounting firm Kirkby Jones and holds a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting. Zoe recently completed studies in the Chartered Accountants Program with the Australian an Institute of Chartered Accountants and is now completing a part-time MBA.
Mr Stephen Jones – CFO Advisory
Stephen provides high-level financial and strategic advice to Typhoon Management and the Board of Directors. He has worked as a chartered accountant since 1979 having initially worked for various firms, both large and small, in Australia and London. Kirkby Jones was established in 1983 and has grown rapidly over the last 25 years. Stephen has extensive experience with all facets of accounting, auditing, taxation, and legal and investment matters. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Economics - University of Sydney B Ec CA and is a Company Auditor registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. He is a Registered Tax Agent, Chartered Accountant and Justice of the Peace.
