A new Australian-designed, state-of-the-art software betting platform, with the potential to revolutionise wagering systems worldwide, has recorded its first multi-million dollar, overseas sale to the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB).
The new betting system, called Typhoon®, was developed over three years by Australian based software company, Media and Gaming, and launched this year.
Typhoon® overcomes the numerous limitations embedded in the software of most wagering companies throughout the world, thereby delivering major operational and commercial benefits to them.
The Managing Director of Media and Gaming, Nicholas Plowman, said, "This contract between NZRB and Media & Gaming will result in a commercial and technology-based partnership which will ensure the NZRB can take a leading position in an increasingly competitive global entertainment market."
The CEO of the NZRB, Mr. Andrew Brown, said, "As part of our modernisation strategy, the NZRB conducted a worldwide search for the most efficient and reliable betting platform and Typhoon® was selected as the best and most cost-effective option.
"Along with a fast and reliable service, Typhoon® will significantly improve the NZRB’s capacity to compete against offshore operators and enable us to be much more agile and responsive in meeting the needs of the industry and our customers," Mr. Brown said.
Mr. Plowman said, "Tote operations throughout the world run on legacy systems that do not enable them to compete against more technology advanced gaming enterprises. This is holding racing back in its attempts to match it against other forms of global entertainment. Typhoon® goes a long way to solving these problems."
"Quite simply Typhoon® is the most highly advanced and technically superior wagering system currently available in the world today.
Mr. Plowman identified several key advantages of the new Typhoon® betting system.
Mr. Plowman said. "Typhoon® enables a wagering operator to respond to customer demand and will help grow new revenues for racing codes, clubs and sporting bodies."
"For example, with Typhoon® an operator can create a trifecta pool on the Tour de France or the US Masters and have it available to their customers across all its retail, web and mobile channels instantly."
"With this first overseas contract at Media and Gaming, we are excited firstly for the NZRB in their far reaching decision, as well as for the New Zealand racing industry which has the potential to gain improved returns, and for the New Zealand public who will enjoy an enhanced betting experience. With Typhoon®, everyone wins." Mr. Plowman said.
"The racing industry, its stakeholders and TAB customers deserve the best products and services, which the New Zealand Racing Board and the new Typhoon® system will deliver to them."
Mr. Plowman said, "We are excited for the NZRB in their far reaching decision, for the public in their enjoyment of a bet, and for the industry in its improved returns. With Typhoon®, everyone wins."

Typhoon Pools®, a next generation in wagering, promises racing and sporting fans a different experience with more excitement and more bang for their buck when it launches Wednesday 11 March.
Running on Typhoon®, a system built in Australia from the ground up by a team with 30 years experience in developing and implementing innovative, large-scale wagering systems, the Typhoon Pools® website will provide a range of world first opportunities for punters.
"Typhoon Pools®, as well as enabling traditional betting choices, is designed with the latest technology to facilitate new and unique bet types, with more information, more security, more speed and more reliability for betting customers," Managing Director, Nicholas Plowman, said.
"Typhoon Pools® will show racing and sporting fans worldwide that their betting experience can be as entertaining and exciting as the races and matches themselves," Mr. Plowman said.
Initially, Typhoon Pools® will launch with Force 1™ [Win and Place] pools on selected Australian horse racing meetings and a Force 8™ pool on new season AFL and NRL games, progressively adding new products and events in coming weeks and months. Other sporting events to be covered by Typhoon Pools® will include English Premier League, Cricket, FIFA World Cup, Formula One, Rugby, Golf, Tennis, Cycling and US sports.
Other well known race wagering bet types including quinella, exacta [Force 2™] and trifecta [Force 3™], and quadrella [Force 4™] will soon be offered. The added attraction of Typhoon Pools® is its specialty bets tailored to create greater entertainment and also jackpots. These new bet types, the Force 4™, Force 6™, Force 8™ and Force 10™ are Typhoon Pools® marquee product range.
"Typhoon Pools® will enable racing and sporting fans to test their punting skills and hype their excitement with each event," Mr. Plowman said. "And it runs on the Typhoon® software platform that is quite simply the best system available anywhere in the world today."
Independently tested by BMM Compliance with outstanding results, Typhoon® is fault resistant, is completely automated and operates 24/7.
Typhoon Pools® racing product aims to offer punters a higher return because the commission it takes from the pools will be almost 30% less than the established Australian TABs. However, Mr. Plowman said that Typhoon Pools® would also give back to the racing and sporting bodies by paying the relevant product fees. "We believe in paying our way and we will also be proud to assist in opening new markets for the racing and sporting sectors. In fact, fundamentally, we feel strongly that the introduction of Typhoon will be integral to the racing industry’s future development," he said.
Registration is now open on its web site www.typhoon-pools.com
Typhoon Pools® is an Australian company, with a Bookmaker’s Licence from the Norfolk Island Gaming Authority and an eGambling Licence from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission in Alderney, which is a UK white-listed jurisdiction in the Channel Islands, UK.
